Me and My Shadow

​

Anyone suffers from his dark days.

The photos of Artist Sungtae Jung remind us that it might be photographed at that time.

An example is a lump of charcoal or a track of wall associating a flesh stirring, etc... In an ordinary situation which can be overlooked without closely looking into, the artist has created an unique atmosphere form his own viewpoint.

There are hardly artists who can express inner worlds based on objects and situations caught their fancy. The series of ‘Me and My shadow’ that is associated with gloomy objects make us feel as if someone passes a dark and long tunnel.

Now, I expect that this tunnel will be replaced by a new world waiting for him.

나와 나의 그림자 시리즈에 대해

​

누구에게나 암울한 시기가 있다.
정성태 작가의 사진을 보면 그러한 시기에 촬영한 것이 아닐까 생각하게 된다.

해골을 연상시키는 숯덩이, 몸부림치는 육신을 연상시키는 벽의 흔적 등... 자세히 살펴보지 않으면 지나칠 수 있는 평범한 상황 속에서 정성태는 본인만의 시선으로 독특한 분위기를 끌어냈다. 

이렇게 발견한 사물과 상황들로 내면의 세계를 표현할 수 있는 작가는 흔치 않다. 

우울한 대상들로 이루어진 그의 ‘나와 나의 그림자’ 시리즈는 마치 어두운 긴 터널을 통과하는 기분을 들게 한다. 

이제 이 터널을 벗어나서 새로운 세계로의 전환을 이루기를 기대한다.
